Based on the old Civic build, Acura has been heavily advertising the ILX as a more luxurious entry-level sedan for those that don’t exactly want to drive a Nissan or a Honda. Although, what you’ll be driving is essentially a nicer aforementioned Civic. But make no mistake: that’s not a bad thing. Overall, the 2020 Acura ILX is a solid entry-level luxury sedan for those seeking a little more gusto in their commute that their 2006 Corolla might not be providing.
Stylistically, the ILX is one of the sweetest looking cars on the road today by far. Acura has been gracing all of its models with that oversized diamond grill that instantly makes any car more aggressive, and the ILX is no exception. Road noise is also minimal thanks to a smooth ride and additional insulation that makes for a pleasant commute or long drive on the highway.
Standard equipment on the base trim of the ILX includes: Automatic headlights, heated mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, push-button start, power sunroof, dual-zone climate control, leather steering wheel, heated front seats, and a six-speaker stereo system.
Under the hood, you’ll find a 201 hp 2.4-Liter engine that eagerly responds to commands and has enough giddyup for most driving situations. At an estimated 34 MPG highway, the ILX will also save you some money in fuel costs.
The ILX comes with AcuraWatch, a bevy of standard safety features, which includes forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist and road departure mitigation. Those features help lead the ILX to a solid safety score, as it earned a five-star crash test safety rating from the NHTSA.
