No, you are not required to renew your vehicle registration before selling it in New Jersey. You only need a clear title to transfer ownership. That said, if you plan to drive the car to a CarMax, dealer, or buyer's location, the vehicle must be legally drivable. Driving with an expired registration risks a traffic stop and fine.

My wife and I recently moved from the city and needed a car but didn’t know where to start. At first we tried online, but it was honestly a little overwhelming.
