Should a single person or couple get a sedan or SUV?
For a single person or couple without kids, a sedan is almost always the more financially efficient choice. You get a lower monthly payment, better fuel economy, and easier parking in urban and suburban environments. The main reasons a couple might choose an SUV are: they frequently carry large items or gear, they want all-wheel drive for winter driving, or they simply prefer the higher seating position. None of these are wrong reasons, but they are worth weighing against the $80-$150 monthly premium a midsize SUV typically carries over a comparable sedan.
