Can I sell my car without a title in NJ?

Most buyers, including online buyers and dealerships, will not complete a purchase without a clear title. Private buyers should also be cautious about buying without one. If you have lost the title, apply for a duplicate through the NJ MVC before trying to sell. Some junk car buyers will purchase without a title, but expect a significantly lower offer. The duplicate title process is straightforward and worth completing before listing your car.
