A lease transfer is usually the cheapest option if your leasing company allows it. You find someone to take over your lease payments, pay a transfer fee of $100 to $500, and walk away. If your vehicle has equity (it is worth more than the buyout price), buying it out and selling it privately or to a dealer can actually make you money instead of costing you.
