A clean car typically gets a higher offer than a dirty one, particularly from private buyers evaluating overall condition. For online buyers and dealerships, a basic clean matters less because they factor in conditioning costs. At minimum, remove all personal items, vacuum the interior, and wash the exterior before any inspection or photos. A professional detail for a car with strong value can return more than it costs.
