Is a PHEV worth it if I don't have a home charger?

If you cannot charge at home, a PHEV loses much of its value. Without regular charging, the large battery is effectively deadweight and you are paying a premium over a regular hybrid for fuel savings you will not realize. Public charging for a PHEV is less convenient than for a full EV because the sessions are short and many PHEV drivers do not bother. If home charging is not an option, a regular hybrid typically offers better value than a PHEV.
